To relax the jaw muscles it is important to do massage and stretching exercises frequently. First apply either a warm compress or a cold compress to the sore areas for two to three minutes. Try both hot and cold and then use which ever feels the best. With your fingers, massage the muscle for five seconds. Then stretch your mouth open for five seconds. Open to the point where you feel that you are doing some good but not causing pain. Hold the stretch for five seconds. Repeat the massage and stretching for five times. Do this routine five times a day.
